Our Mission
The College of Fine and Arts at Salahaddin University-Erbil is dedicated to delivering high-quality education and training in the visual and performing arts. Our mission is to empower students with artistic knowledge, technical skills, and a deep understanding of the cultural and social roles of art. Through a blend of academic rigor, studio practice, and community engagement, we strive to foster creative expression, support research in the arts, and promote cultural enrichment across the Kurdistan Region and beyond.
Our History
The College of Fine Arts was established in the academic year 2003–2004 at Salahaddin University-Erbil to meet the growing need for academic art education in the Kurdistan Region. At the outset in 2004, it included three departments: Sculpture, Music, and Cinema. In 2005, the Theater Department was added. The Sculpture Department includes four divisions: Design, Painting, Sculpture, and Ceramics. The Music Department consists of one general division with no subdivisions. Although Cinema and Theater were initially separate departments, they have since merged into a single Department of Cinema and Theater, which comprises two divisions: Cinema and Theater. For over two decades, the college has played a vital role in promoting artistic education, cultural awareness, and creative expression across the region.
