Prof. Dr. Sardar Qadir, Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Salahaddin University, extended his congratulations and appreciation to Assist. Prof. Dr. Sami Khoshnaw, Assistant Dean of the College, on the publication of his latest academic work entitled “The Abstract Form in Modern Art”. He also wished him continued success in his academic and scholarly endeavors.
On this occasion, Assist. Prof. Dr. Sami Khoshnaw spoke about the content of his book and expressed his hope that this scholarly effort will contribute further to serving and developing Kurdish art.
The book consists of 209 pages, in which the author discusses abstract form in modern art. The content of the book is divided into five main chapters:
- Chapter One: Theories related to form
- Chapter Two: Theories related to abstraction
- Chapter Three: Global modern art
- Chapter Four: Iraqi modern art
- Chapter Five: Kurdish modern art
The book analyzes 134 artworks from international, Iraqi, and Kurdistan artists, highlighting the abilities and creativity of Kurdish artists alongside artists from around the world. For this reason, the book was written in Arabic.
This is the first edition of the book, published by Barla Foundation and printed at Raperin Printing House in Sulaymaniyah. It has also been granted deposit number 3014 for the year 2026 by the General Directorate of Public Libraries of the Kurdistan Region.
