Erbil, Tuesday (February 24, 2026)

Assist. Teacher. Karzan Ahmed Khidr, Head of the Department of Fine Arts at the College of Fine Arts, Salahaddin University-Erbil, delivered a scientific seminar titled “Classroom Management Strategies: From Capturing Attention to Ensuring Interaction,” in which he presented key academic approaches to effective knowledge delivery and the management of a productive learning environment.

The seminar highlighted the concept of active interaction between instructor and students, with particular emphasis on the “first five minutes rule,” during which the brain decides the importance and level of engagement with the topic. These initial moments were described as crucial for setting the tone and success of the lecture.

Various techniques for addressing classroom challenges and engaging quiet students were also explained, including the use of the “soft-cold calling” technique to encourage participation without creating pressure or discomfort.

In conclusion, it was emphasized that a successful classroom is defined by the depth of its dialogue and active engagement rather than by silence. Participants exchanged insights and suggestions on enhancing the quality of education and strengthening academic interaction.
