A critical research study by Dr. Falah Shakrchi, a lecturer at the College of Fine Arts, , has been published on one of Morocco’s most prominent electronic platforms specializing in art criticism.
The study, entitled “A Socio-Cultural Reading of the Masterpiece ‘Chronic Auction’ by Artist Prof. Dr. Salam Jabbar”, was published on the website .
In his research, Dr. Shakrchi adopts a scholarly and critical approach to analyze and present his observations on Chronic Auction (Mazad Muzmin), one of the most renowned artistic works by .
The painting Chronic Auction is viewed as an important visual document in which the artist delves deeply into the crisis-ridden reality of Iraq. Through a crowded and narrative-driven visual space, the work transcends the conventional boundaries of time, place, and physical reality, bringing together hidden truths and different stages of Iraq’s history onto a single canvas.
The artwork is not merely an aesthetic creation; rather, it serves as a powerful critical and political statement. It raises its voice against betrayal, corruption, money laundering, the deterioration of security, the commercialization of sacred values, the decline of the middle class, the presence of illegal armed groups, the militarization of society, and the erosion of national identity under the pressures of globalization.
According to the researcher, the painting functions like a precise surgical operation performed by a skilled doctor—the artist himself—to diagnose the deep-rooted ailments of Iraqi society and to warn of an even darker future should these conditions continue unchecked.
