Erbil, Thursday (May 7, 2026)
On May 7, 2026, as part of a major artistic event organized by the Kurdistan Foundation and the Youth Center, a live painting competition was held for talented artists from across Kurdistan. Nearly 380 participants from different cities and towns of the Kurdistan Region took part in the competition.
The College of Fine Arts played a key and influential role through its lecturers and specialists in supervising and scientifically evaluating the artworks. The judging and supervisory committee consisted of:
- Mr. Hiwa Abdulaziz, lecturer at the Department of Fine Arts, who served as General Supervisor of the competition and member of the judging committee.
- Mr. Rawand Jaafar, lecturer at the Department of Fine Arts, member of the judging committee.
- Ms. Dunya Fazil, graduate of the Department of Fine Arts (2023–2024) and current Master’s student in the same department, member of the judging committee.
After carefully evaluating the paintings, the top ten winners were selected. Graduates and students of our college succeeded in obtaining most of the top ranks:
- First Place: Sherivan Barani (Duhok)
- Second Place: Revan Emad (Erbil) – Graduate of the College of Fine Arts, 2019–2020
- Third Place: Nezhad Kawkaz (Erbil) – Graduate of the College of Fine Arts, 2016–2017
- Fourth Place: Bashdar Qadir (Erbil)
- Fifth Place: Abduljabbar Jaafar (Erbil)
- Sixth Place: Darya Othman (Sulaymaniyah)
- Seventh Place: Rondik Sulaiman (Erbil)
- Eighth Place: Salim Mohammed (Rania) – Third-year student, Department of Fine Arts/Painting
- Ninth Place: Bayan Ibrahim
- Tenth Place: Mohammed Ahmed (Erbil) – Graduate of the College of Fine Arts, 2024–2025
This active participation by the college staff and the achievements of our graduates demonstrate the high academic and artistic standards of the lecturers at the College of Fine Arts, Salahaddin University, in preparing a talented and creative generation of students.
