Erbil, Thursday (January 15, 2026)
As part of its ongoing academic and artistic activities, the Department of Cinema and Theatre at the College of Fine Arts, Salahaddin University–Erbil, in coordination with the “Zarê” Organization, organized a scientific and artistic workshop for the department’s students. The workshop was titled “Storytelling Through Images” and lasted for three days.
The workshop was presented by filmmaker Khaibar Rafiq, who addressed, in an academic manner, the fundamentals of cinematography and the art of lighting. He also discussed storytelling techniques and the process of creating “mood,” which is considered a core element in cinematic film production.
On the final day of the workshop, as a gesture of appreciation for the success of the activity, certificates of thanks and recognition were presented by the College administration to the workshop trainer and filmmaker Khaibar Rafiq, as well as to the head of the Zarê Organization, Evan Faisal, by the Head of the Department of Cinema and Theatre, Asst. Teacher. Dana Mohammed Abdullah.
In another part of the closing ceremony, certificates of participation were awarded to 21 students who took part in the workshop.
It is worth noting that the activity was not limited to theoretical aspects only; rather, in its final stage, it concluded with the implementation of two practical experiments, during which students tested their skills in cinematography and visual storytelling.
