Erbil, Monday –6, October 2025
The Department of Cinema and Theater at the College of Fine Arts, University of Salahaddin–Erbil, is taking part in the 5th Slemani International Film Festival with three short films titled:
- My Paper Boat, directed by Hozan Sherzad
- The Sign, directed by Rêman Ranj
- 13, directed by Edward Halkawt
Within this framework, Mr. Dana Mohammed Abdullah, the production supervisor of the three films, will represent the University of Salahaddin and the city of Erbil in the competition section of the festival.
All three short films are new productions of this year, and a total of nine short films have been selected for production and screening during this year’s festival.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Department of Cinema and Theater continues to focus not only on producing creative projects but also on enhancing their distribution and outreach. The department has built strong artistic collaborations with various film festivals to promote and showcase student and faculty works — ensuring the quantity and quality of its productions are both recognized and strengthened.
