Methods of Teaching Solfège Discussed in a Scientific Seminar

Yesterday, Tuesday, January 27, 2026, with the attendance of a notable number of lecturers from the College of Fine Arts, a scientific seminar was held within the framework of the college’s academic activities. The seminar was delivered by Prof. Dr. Amanj Ghazi under the title:
“Methods of Teaching Solfège – Student Development and Progress.”

During the seminar, Assis.Prof. Dr. Amanj Ghazi discussed the importance of advancing and modernizing solfège teaching methods, highlighting the latest developments in teaching approaches within the field of music.

In another part of the seminar, emphasis was placed on the significant impact of solfège teaching as an art and methodology on students’ development and on enhancing their scientific and practical abilities in the field of music.

The seminar stressed the necessity for music instructors to adopt scientific approaches and to select the most appropriate solfège methods in accordance with students’ needs, in order to ensure comprehensive development and progress for all students.

It was also emphasized that music instructors should scientifically apply methods such as Kodály and Dalcroze, as well as follow Gordon’s Music Learning Theory, particularly the concept of audiation, which refers to the ability to hear and understand music internally within the mind.
